Comet Halley with Joshua Tree in Twilight

Joshua Tree National Monument, California

The arms of a Joshua tree seem to reach out to embrace Comet Halley. Although sunrise is still an hour away, the faint comet struggles to be seen against the brightening eastern horizon. The long night is ending; day will soon come to the desert.
