The familiar constellation of Orion the Hunter can be seen in the center of this photo. The three evenly-spaced blue stars form Orion's belt, and just to their lower right, the Orion Nebula leaves a pinkish streak. Below the Orion constellation is the bright star Sirius, and in the lower left is the star Procyon.
This photo was taken adjacent to the Furnace Creek Visitor Center at Death Valley National Park. Lights from the visitor center illuminated the palm trees in the foreground, and the lights of passing cars can be seen just beyond the trees.
