Orion and Sirius

The familiar constellation of Orion leaves star trails as it rises across the southeast sky. The bright streak below Orion is the star Sirius, while the planet Saturn is at extreme upper left. Moonlight from a first-quarter moon illuminates the hills in the foreground of this photo taken in the southern California desert.
